4. Fund the job securely through MusicMakerz.

It’s important to have a clear idea of what you want when creating a job post or a proposal. When hiring for your project, maximize your chances for success by inviting freelancers with the right skillsets to match the job. As a freelancer, protect yourself by only accepting contracts with reasonable requirements that you have the skills to successfully deliver.
With escrow, clients pre-fund work and release funds to their freelancers as projects are completed or milestones are met – knowing that they’ll be able to review and approve delivered work before releasing payment. Escrow also gives freelancers the comfort of knowing that a project is funded before they begin working.

We take security seriously at MusicMakerz. If you think you’re the victim of a possible scam, immediately contact Customer Support.
Our security model flags fraudulent activity to help ensure a safe workplace. We’re also here to help you succeed along the way, with 24/7 MusicMakerz customer support and dispute assistance. Once a freelancer receives payment for work completed on a project, our Terms of Service specify that ownership of that work transfers to the client. For details, see our User Agreement. It also explains that freelancers and clients can agree on different or additional terms.
Educating yourself and trusting your instincts are key to safety. Here are certain types of scams and abuse to know and avoid.
- Phishing: Prevent unscrupulous users from trying to steal your passwords. Double check that links or HTML files clients give you don’t lead to fake login pages.
- Free work fraud: Don’t start work before the official contract start date. Never pay anything to work for a client, even if they claim that the money will be reimbursable.
- Check cashing fraud: Report clients who ask you to process PayPal payments, or request favors to cash or deposit checks and money orders in order to send the money somewhere else. These checks or money orders are most likely fraudulent and your bank can hold you liable for the funds.
- Direct payments: Let our trust and safety team help keep you safe. MusicMakerz screens all payments sent through our secure payment system. Help us by reporting anyone who asks to send or receive money outside of MusicMakerz.
Reviews are only offered once jobs are completed, for both provider and clients. Therefore, reviews are made by people who have worked directly with the other party on a past job on MusicMakerz.
Clients
Provider profiles include detailed information such as work experience, resumes, portfolios, reviews of past work through MusicMakerz so you can better know who you’re hiring. Ultimately, however, it is your responsibility to do the final screening to help ensure that the Provider is a great match for you and your project.
Check their past reviews. If they have none, then ask for an interview to see if you have a clear understanding of their expectations. If you receive a contract for a job, the payment will be secured by Escrow before you even begin work.
It is completely free to post a job and to hire someone directly through MusicMakerz. We charge a small commission from our providers.
Jobs are funded and paid through PayPal.
By Milestone - The project is divided into smaller segments, called milestones. Providers will be paid for milestones as they are completed and approved.
By Project – Make your entire payment at the end, when all work has been delivered.

Cost–We don’t charge you anything to work through us at MusicMakerz. Providers receive free job leads and the ability to grow their business, so we charge them a small commission for jobs completed.
Providers
There are multiple ways to get hired. You can search the listing of open jobs, find a job you’re interested in and submit a proposal, or a client can browse your profile, and choose to hire you directly.
You can evaluate your prospective clients using data such as the number of jobs posted, rating, and feedback history on MusicMakerz. You can also learn more about the client and the exact work specifications by communicating with them through MusicMakerz Messages or by video conference before accepting a proposal.
It’s completely free to sign up and search for jobs. We only receive a small percentage of 10% once a job has been secured. It’s deducted when the payment is released at the close of the job.
There are two payment term types available for work projects:
By Milestone - The project is divided into smaller segments, called milestones. Providers will be paid for milestones as they are completed and approved.
By Project - Get your entire payment at the end, when all work has been delivered.
1. We get you work
We work hard marketing on your behalf, drawing in thousands of musicians who are looking to hire music production professionals every month. Who loves you?
For SoundBetter to continue to thrive we need jobs found on SoundBetter to be hired and paid for through SoundBetter.
You want us to get you more jobs right?
2. Terms of use (aka Don't get banned)
Not only is it not cool, it is against our terms to pull jobs off platform.
***If you share external info or ask a SoundBetter client to transact outside of SoundBetter's payment platform, you will be banned.***
Since SoundBetter is quickly becoming the main place musicians come to find music production professionals, it's not worth it.
The commission SoundBetter keeps is significantly lower than most marketplaces.
You set your own proposal price to what you choose and always see exactly what you will be paid for every proposal before you send it.
We build relationships with good providers and refer to them when asked for recommendations.
Be safe. If someone offers to transact outside of SoundBetter's payment system, don't agree and report them here.
3. More verified reviews means more visibility, and more work in the future
*****Getting positive verified reviews floats your listing higher in the 'browse providers' page, which means more work****
The only way to get verified reviews is from clients who hired and paid you through SoundBetter.
The more work you do on SoundBetter, the more work you'll get in the future.
Building a good reputation is the best way to stand out.
4. Trust and Support
We are here to help you with any question or issue you have interacting with clients.
We provide an added layer of trust for you and for clients. If you run into any problems, we are here to help.
5. You look shady when you ask someone to pay you directly
Offering to transact outside of SoundBetter to clients who contacted you on SoundBetter makes you look shady.
6. Pre-funding
With SoundBetter's payment platform, clients always pre-fund jobs before you are expected to start working. We make this clear to all clients. But this is only the case if they awarded you the job through SoundBetter and job state changed to 'active'.
We help you ensure clients are serious and there is 'money on the table' before you begin working.
Our payment platform gives you assurance the client was serious by pre-funding the job, while giving the client control and security of their payments to you.
7. Convenience
SoundBetter enables you can accept credit cards from anywhere in the world, and provides you a work-room for managing every job on the site, keeping everything recorded.
8. It's better for our industry.
Having a site like SoundBetter that has verified reviews on providers and clients is a good thing. Having a place where everyone knows clients pre-fund jobs before you start working, where you can proactively bid on jobs, where clients feel extra-secure hiring remote pros, where someone else is working to pull in clients to where you are, and where you can have a beautiful free listing to show potential clients, are all good things.
We've made it our mission to make this industry more streamlined and transparent, easier and better for everyone. We want to get you work.
We are honored to have you be a part of this, but we can only keep providers on the platform who play by the rules.
We charge a small commission of 10% from our providers, only for jobs that you have completed. The fee is applied once the payment is released from the Client.
If a resolution cannot be found with the Client to resolve an issue, then please open a dispute for assistance from the MusicMakerz support team.
